The Daily Love Quote looks like this

To install the Daily Love Quote follow the directions below. You may want to print these directions out. Please read all the directions before you start.

Step 1 - Get the dateable.cgi script
We have saved our cgi script as a text script so you can access it. So you will have to "Save As" the file name "dateable.cgi".
To do this follow the instructions below.

1. Click the proper link below to get the Dateable.com Daily Love Quote script. Clicking the link will take you to a page with a bunch of Perl code on it.
2. Once you get to the page with the script, click "File" and then "Save As" make sure you save the file name as "dateable.cgi".
3. Also take notice of where on your hard drive you are saving this file.

Select the correct file for your server.

1. If your path to Perl is "usr/local/bin/perl" Click Here
2. If your path to Perl is "usr/bin/perl" Click Here
3. And follow the directions for Step 1

Step 2 - Installing the script on your server.

1. FTP in to your web site, and upload the dateable.cgi script in to your cgi-bin in ASCII mode.
2. Change the file permissions to 755 (on most FTP programs you can do this by right clicking on the file on your server, and choose change file attributes).

Step 3 - Putting the Daily Love Quote on your web site.
If you can use a file with the extension ".shtml" then this is really quick. If you can't there are two more steps.

• If you can use ".shtml" pages.
  1. Make sure you are putting this code on a page where the file extension is ".shtml" such as "index.shtml"
  2. Choose the location on your web page where you want the daily quote to be located. (Please be aware the height of the Daily Love Quote will vary due to the size of the days quote)
  3. Place the following code wherever you want the Daily Love Quote to appear. You will need to edit this line to reflect the path on your server.

• If you can not use ".shtml" pages
  1. Follow the directions above to choose the location of the Daily Love Quote on your web page.
  2. Put the code above on your web page.
  3. Create a file called " .htaccess" (If you already have a " .htaccess" file in this directory add the following line to it)
  4. In the file put the following line.

AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .html

Your Daily Love Quote should now be installed!
